Ksenia Eliseeva

Ksenia Eliseeva in her studio

My work is about the emotions of the soul and the aesthetics of feeling.

These paintings hold both the realism of an experiment and something that has no borders.

There is only an instant to feel the depth of inspiration — the moment when you can touch the texture of that energy.

I am a contemporary Russian artist. I live and work in St Petersburg.

I make complex works in a technique of my own: texture pastes and epoxy resin. Few people work this way — it is slow, and the relief has to carry the meaning rather than decorate.

The thread running through everything I make is the inner psychological state of a person coming to know themselves.

A many-sided texture holding scenes of arrested reality — the way awareness settles inside a person.

I work in different techniques, with different materials and on very different surfaces. I like what is new and what is layered, and I like working to commission.

Works have gone to private collections in Prague, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Rome, Georgia, Tatarstan, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey.

Shall we talk about art?

Ask me about any part of what I do — what a work is made of, how it feels to the hand, how it will sit in your room. I am glad to film it for you in the studio. We can talk through size, framing and timing, or start a work that does not exist yet.
