There are works that come easily, as if they had been standing at my studio door for a long time simply waiting to be let in. And there are others: the ones that demand time, repainting, new points of view, pauses, deep breaths, small inner rebirths.

This painting was one of the second kind.
I could not tell you exactly how long it took — I repainted the subject several times, trusting nothing but my own feeling. It grew along with me, changed, forced new decisions out of me. And at some point the result surprised… me. Do you know that feeling when you think you are in control, and then art takes a step sideways and shines in a way you never planned?

That was exactly the case here.
The painting came out large, 150 centimetres, round, textured, with a gold ground and flowers that seem to have flared up out of thin air. It stood in my studio, so sure of itself, as if it knew it would soon leave for the people it was meant for.

And one day a pair of designers came to see me from Moscow. They walked in, saw this work and literally stopped.
“Could it be lit?” they asked, as if testing how far I was willing to experiment.

Of course it could. I am an artist of the future — just say “let’s do something unusual” and I am already airborne.
And so this painting found its unusual purpose and went… onto the ceiling. Yes, right up there. And honestly, that discovery delighted me beyond measure. There is something magical in the way a process falls into place when art itself chooses where it will shine.

Surprise, boldness, light — it all came together.
And that is exactly what I love about my path: when the universe hands you stories more interesting than any plan thought out in advance.
