The Portrait: the Art of Seeing a Soul — photograph

Texture is the word humming through every art space right now. Palette knife, thick paste, relief and brushstrokes that breathe. People are reaching again for the tangible, for a surface where life can be felt. We are tired of gloss and perfection. The world wants to touch again: canvas, texture, itself. But there is something that goes deeper than textured art alone. That is the textured portrait. It is not about appearance, an exact copy or plain “likeness”. It is a meeting with a person’s energy.

The portrait as a conduit

When I paint a portrait, it is as if I hear the rhythm of a soul: invisible but alive. I feel where the light is in a person and where the shadow is, and how it all interweaves into a single flow.

In that process texture becomes the language of the soul, speaking through layers, irregularities and glints. Sometimes a stroke suddenly becomes a breath, and a drop of paint a tear, a joy or a memory.

Every textured portrait keeps the vibration of the person. Their frequency.

When a viewer comes closer, they step into a magnetic field. They want to stay, to look, to feel… That is the moment when painting starts working on the soul.

Why the portrait is the trend of the new era

The world is heading into the virtual. But the more of us there is in the digital, the stronger the pull towards the real, the bodily, the genuine.

Textured painting gives you the sense that this is alive. The canvas is not flat, it is like skin, with relief, with the memory of touch, and a portrait is no longer simply “a picture of a person”. It is an anchor of presence. You look at it and the space beside you seems to thicken. You feel that the person on the canvas is here.

In a future where artificial intelligence can imitate anything, real handwork will become sacred. Because it carries real energy, not pixels.

The portrait as a mirror

Every portrait I make is a story about me as well. And about my crossing paths with the person I am painting, about what we reflect in each other. The artist becomes a mirror of the soul, and that is what makes a portrait alive. The deeper you look into the eyes on the canvas, the more of yourself you see.

Shall we talk about art?

Ask me about any part of what I do — what a work is made of, how it feels to the hand, how it will sit in your room. I am glad to film it for you in the studio. We can talk through size, framing and timing, or start a work that does not exist yet.
