“Icon of Happiness”: the story of one work by the founder of the MAKE AIR Interior gallery.

When a family of three came to me asking for a painting that would show their family happiness, I felt straight away that this work would be a special one. They told me they love spending time outdoors, especially by water. For them it is the place where time seems to stop and they can simply enjoy each other.
In my work I try to capture not subjects but sensations. I am inspired by sky, water and the living emotions of people walking together. Those images always remind me of the harmony that surrounds us in everyday life. I call such paintings “icons of happiness”, because they stand for real values: love, care and the simple moments that fill a life with meaning.
For this painting I decided to show the family beside a large body of water. The space around them creates a sense of depth, as if the world itself were holding them in that moment of happiness. The sky above is light, with soft clouds that keep changing yet stay just as beautiful and tender.
Working on the painting was, for me, more than a creative process — it was a way of living the moment together with its subjects. I wanted to convey not only the visual image but the atmosphere of comfort and calm this family lives in. In my palette I used soft, warm shades that fill the heart with light and joy.

When the painting was finished and I brought it to their home, I watched them stand in front of it, silently taking in the details. It was a moving moment. The mother said: “That’s definitely us,” and the father added: “That’s our life, our love.” At that point it was clear that the very moment that mattered so much to this family had been caught.
Works like these always stay special for me. They are not just paintings that decorate an interior — they are part of a family’s story, a real “icon of happiness”, a reminder that the most important thing in life is the time spent with the people we love.
It is projects like this that move me on, towards new ways of carrying, through art, the feelings that live in every one of us. Because every person is a story of happiness that can be caught on canvas.
