Navigating the Fields of God

The figures are three-dimensional, cast, and stand a finger's width off the canvas. The beams carry them from right to left and at some point break off, and beyond that the field is empty.

I kept the blue deep, running from cobalt down to turquoise at the bottom, and scattered gold dust over it.

One is jumping. The rest are standing at the junction, talking it over.

I am not hiding the meaning: someone laid the lines, and whether to walk them or step off is the person's own call.

The colour is bright, so the wall wants to be quiet. Art above the sofa in a pale living room, a blue bedroom wall, a teenager's room.

In the light the figures throw small shadows of their own. You only see that up close, and it is worth walking over for.
