One for Two

“One for Two”, from the “Sea for Two” collection, 120 × 100 cm on canvas, three centimetres thick. Many layers, relief, gloss in places.

I built the foam in mass and it stands above the surface; the sand is smooth, and the water goes down into depth. Running a hand across the canvas takes you from land to water by touch.

The two on the sand stand close together. The boat is far off. They have no intention of reaching it.

The one shared between two here is the shore, not the boat. It is about two people sometimes having a common piece of ground, and that being enough.

Hang it over a dining table, in a living room, in a bedroom. On a pink or a sand-coloured wall it looked better than on white.

The gloss runs over the water, so in the evening the sea lights up and the sand stays matte.
