Her top is light. Apart from the stars it is the only light patch there.
The pose is recognisable. Every child at the water's edge sits like that. Rounded back. Elbows on the knees.
The stars in her hands are small. She is not chasing them and not catching them, she is sorting through what already lies beside her.
The universe behind her is enormous and it does not trouble her. Scale is of no interest; the particular pebble in her hand is.
Starlight falls on her hands and on the pale cloth and reaches nowhere else, so that whole dark universe stays a background for one pair of palms.
What does execution mean? Things come off for whoever bent down and picked one up.
Its place is a nursery or a home office.
