Synchronisation

“Synchronisation”: two sun loungers, two people, backs to us. Waves come softly to their feet. A 90 × 90 square, mixed media with oil.

The sky shifts in golden streaks. Clouds drift past without stopping; they are background here.

The sun looks out from behind the veil and lays a gold track on the water.

The faces are hidden on purpose. It could be anyone: you and someone close, you and the person you want to become.

The waves carry no threat. Their rhythm is a lulling one, nature at its normal pace.

The moment is caught between breathing in and breathing out. Between the noise outside and the quiet inside.

I put it together as an anchor for people worn out by their own scatteredness, who cannot gather into one point.

The meaning, if I had to put it in a line: you do not have to be everywhere, be here.

Buyers hang it in a bedroom, a yoga studio, an office. Where a person slows down on purpose.
