“The Sea II” is a narrow upright, 84 × 37 cm. Seen from above: turquoise water, a line of foam, a wet sand flat, and on the sand one tiny figure with a long shadow.

The base is not canvas: mixed media with epoxy resin, finished in bronze and aluminium.

I poured the resin over the water, and that makes the water real: deep, glossy, and under a lamp you can see the room reflected in it. The sand beside it is matte and rough, and the difference under the hand is sharp.

This is the younger sister of “Sea for Two”, the 220 × 150 canvas. The same subject, working differently: the big one covers you, this one fits in your hands and keeps its distance.

The format is narrow. A pier of wall is enough for it: between two windows, over a desk, in a hallway, in a bathroom.

An epoxy resin painting is afraid of direct sun. Better to choose a wall that does not face a south window.

This is often the first one people buy, to try having the sea in the house.
