The Secret Behind the Green and Gold

Green and gold. Dollars and metal. “The Secret Behind the Green and Gold”, 90 × 80 cm, part of my “Superstitious Products” series.

What makes this souvenir stuff magic?

There is a secret, and hunting for it in the physical layer gets you nowhere. It is what stands behind the green for you: your wishes, and the place you hide them.

People keep more omens about money than about anything else. Do not lend after sunset. Do not count what belongs to someone else. Never put a wallet on the floor.

The metal does nothing. A ritual charges an intention, the intention hardens into habit, and habit walks you to the place you wanted from the start.

Green went on thick as the ground. Gold sits over it in dots and bands.

In daylight the gold takes all the attention. In shadow the green comes back.

A talisman works for whoever believes in it. Everyone else gets green and gold on the wall, which for a painting is a decent result.

It goes into offices and boardrooms.
