Heart Chakra

A nude figure from behind, arms round the knees. I modelled the body with light and ran coloured lines along the contour: blue, red, yellow.

The colour here is only on the borders. Inside, the body is grey-silver, and the contours double and treble like a misregistered print, which makes the pose look as if it is moving.

The ground is dark and smooth, with a metallic sheen. It takes the light and gives it back on the shoulder and the hip.

The pose is closed. The person is holding themselves. It is the one embrace that is always available.

A 90 × 90 square is easy over a bed and over a chest of drawers. Art for a bedroom first of all, and that is where it has gone.

The nudity here is calm, with no challenge in it, so the work is at home in a living room too.

Look at it in warm light. A cold lamp pulls the silver towards blue and the coloured contours lose their force.
