Around them, water and light. No shore was painted.

I gave these two no names on purpose. Recognise somebody of your own in them and that is who they are.

Are they walking towards the light, or is the light coming off them? I left that unresolved, because I have no answer myself.

Water in my work is always a state. Here it is a border: on one side of it a person is frightened, on the other side they have stopped.

The child looks where the adult looks. He is learning to see. The adult explains nothing and pulls nobody after him; he walks alongside and holds a hand.

Its place is a bedroom or a nursery, on the wall you can see from the bed.
