Silence of Penetration

A man holds a small girl and points into the distance, to where the horizon is flooded with light and a flock of birds is climbing.

“Silence of Penetration”, mixed media and oil, 100 × 100 cm.

The horizon went in as a border. Below it what has been lived, above it what is still calling.

Golden rays come through the clouds softly, with no searchlight punch. The surface is textured, so the light gets caught and holds.

The birds are few and small. They set the direction of the gaze.

The gesture is simple. An adult shows a child where to look, and in that one movement hands over everything he has understood himself, without a word.

The composition stands on counterweights. The embrace is still, the light moves. The ground is dense, the sky is thin.

I am telling no story. I needed the moment when it goes quiet inside, because the important thing has been said.

Best in a nursery or the parents' room. A family painting that works at close range.
