She does not read at once. First you catch the mood, cheeky and light, and only then work out that it is a bird.

The turned back is a statement. She exists without being discussed.

Streaks run around her and settle into a gold cage.

Those frames are the ones a person chooses. They work as a stage.

Gold underlines the main thing: inside those lines something is going on, without you and without regard for whether you are watching.

The cocked tail looks frivolous, and the strength sits in the same place. You see it by standing there a little longer than usual.

I painted the bird small and the streaks around her large, so she loses on area to everything else and still runs the picture.
